Back-to-School Labels You'll Love

Meet busy mom and entrepreneur Laura Porreca, owner of Lovable Labels. Laura is dedicated to helping us label our kid's school supplies, clothing and sippy cups all year round. Her shop is filled with label-goodness in all shapes, sizes and design. She has the label you need. Her company slogan is, "Don't Lose It, Label It!"

When Laura's first child entered daycare, she was told to label all his belongings. This meant labeling everything from his outdoor clothing and indoor and outdoor shoes, to his lunches, sippy cups and backpack. Unable to find anything that met her standards and would stay put, Laura recognized a need in the market for personalized labels that were tough and durable and could stand the test of time and the everyday use that children put them through.

Laura writes, "If you have children, August and early September represents more than summer ending, cooler weather and windy fall nights. School begins once again for millions of kids across the country. Getting your child prepared with all of their back-to-school supplies, regardless of whether they are in Kindergarten or a senior in high school, is a must, and can be incredibly stressful."

"Now we know what you’re thinking, this happens every year, there is no changing it, but we can help with making sure that everything your hard earned money has purchased will come home with your wonderful bundles of joy when that bell rings at 3:00."

Laura wants to make sure we never have to dig through the dreaded LOST & FOUND box in the principal's office ever again! With Laura's help, your child's newly labeled lunchbox will make it home!
Lovable Labels makes “kid proof” labels; there is nothing your child can do to these labels that they haven’t already tired. They are dishwasher- and microwave-safe, UV protected and washer and dryer friendly.

Laura has created an extensive variety of labels like classic personalized Sticker Labels, Slimlines, Iron-Ons, Clothing Dots, Fun Stickies, Bag Tags, Mini-Metal Tags, Medical and Vital Id Wristbands and Personalized Story Books, where your little hero becomes the hero in their very own story.

She even has a collection of labels that are Just For Mom. Thanks, Laura!

Monday Moms Get Crafty!

Today we have two craft projects that I am just waiting to try from two crafty mom's blogs that I read almost every day. You will love these projects and be sure to add their blogs to your favorites so you don't miss a single craft idea!

This gorgeous decoupage bucket above is made by Julie of Joy's Hope. She makes the coolest craft projects and posts something new every day, but this bucket just keeps calling my name and saying, "Make Me! Make Me!" She started with simple tin buckets from the craft store or home center and her favorite papers. Read how to make your own decoupage scrapbook paper bucket on her blog. Take a minute to "read around" her blog - you'll love it!

One of my daily blog reads is written by crafty mom, Kimba. She made this above basket of ribbon deliciousness and posted photos on her blog, A Soft Place to Land. She calls it a "Ribbon Ragamuffin". I just love this idea! Perfect for decorating your office, child's room, kitchen or a fun corner of your home just for you. Apparently these can be made into full ribbon garlands too! Read more about Kimba's Ribbon Ragamuffins on her blog.

Happy Monday!

Hand Stamped Pendants by Queen Bee

Meet our newest crafty Polka Dot Mom, Amanda of Queen Bee Designs by Amanda!

She is truly the "Queen Bee" of her home. She lives with her husband, her two sons and even their pet dog, tortoise and guinea pig are boys! Amanda is a former first grade teacher who loves to scrapbook and decoupage anything and everything. I need to ask her to write an article about is such a cool craft that I want to try!

Amanda received a hand-stamped pendant with her boy's names on it as a gift and just fell in love with the craft from there. She started her crafty business like many of us did - with lots and lots of research and plastic bins filled with samples and mistakes and loads of fabric (oh wait, that's me).

Back to Queen Bee Designs...I love Amanda's hand-stamped sterling silver jewelry so much. The great thing about buying your gifts from a small business crafter is they can personalize the gift to be exactly what you are looking for. Amanda stamps each piece herself and has created custom pendants with Bible verses, bridesmaids names, children's names and even bride and groom names with their wedding date.

On her new pieces she has added pearl and precious stone dangles (I am a big fan of this look).

Amanda has titled her craft "personalized sterling silver hand-stamped pendants". Most of her cerustomers are mommies, but she also caters to grandmas, dads and grads.

Her current project is for a bridal party of twelve. Each bridesmaid and groomsman will receive a unique piece to cherish for years to come.

Every hand-stamped pendant order includes an 18" sterling silver petite ball chain necklace. Swarovski crystal or freshwater pearl dangles are shown in many of her designs and may be added to any order.

Amanda processes her orders via her blog at

You can e-mail her your ideas. She writes, "your imagination is the limit, so take a look around and let's get stamping!"

Mention "Polka Dot Mom" in your e-mail to Amanda and receive 10% off your entire order. Thanks, Queen Bee!
