For Cora Paige

Crafty moms on Etsy have come together this weekend creating handmade treasures for the Cora Paige "Build Her Playground" Fund.

Cora's story has touched so many through their family blog. Her mom kept an online journal of her sweet daughter Cora's first year. When you read previous posts, you see sweet Cora playing with her family and friends in countless photos. You can read about her first Christmas and how she was sick with three ear infections in a row, and how her parents Joel and Jess couldn't understand why she had been sick so much. Then read about a doctor's appointment in January that will break your heart, and see the next three weeks of this family's struggle as they tried to heal Cora in the hospital. Then one last post from Cora's mommy, "Cora is with Jesus today."

Every blog entry from this family ended with a Bible verse, then a list of the day's "Praises" and "Prayer Requests".

As you read Cora's family blog, you will be inspired. You will cry. You will want to hug your kids a little tighter. And I hope you will pray for Joel and Jess, as that is all they ask.

This verse is from her most recent post on the Cora's Playground site:
"My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:15-16

If you would like to donate the proceeds from the sale of your items on Etsy, please put "Cora Paige" in the title so customers may find you. Promote this benefit on your blog today. See a full list of Cora Paige Friends on Etsy compiled by My Favorite Things.

We are saving our receipts and will all donate our proceeds on the same day. I hope you will join us in helping to build a playground in Cora's honor at her home church in Kansas.

  1. I read about Cora a few weeks ago, just as she began her battle with cancer. I cannot imagine what that little girl went through, or what her parents must have experienced. My heart goes out to them every day. Thank you for featuring them on Polka Dot Mom--hopefully this will generate a lot of donations for the playground!

  2. Thank you for sharing this story w/ us. How sad and scary as a parent! I admire their faith, I know it is the only thing getting them through this right now.

  3. Thank you for reaching out to my family. We appreciate it immensely.
