Live from Alabama!



The ladies at A Drop in the Bucket are helping me announce that Polka Dot Mom is back - blogging from Sweet Home Alabama!

Thanks to each of you for your sweet comments and e-mails. I am so sorry to have been away so long. Moving is always harder than you think it's going to be, isn't it?

We have been in our house for a week now and I just finished the girls' bedroom today. One room is finally free of boxes. Okay, make that two rooms if you count their bathroom.

My goal is to have all the boxes unpacked by August 1st when we go back for a weekend-visit to Nashville for my daughter's 3rd birthday party. Plus my oldest will be starting kindergarten around August 12th. Whoa.

So, I am trying to get back to my work and blogging routines. I have hated to be away so long, but have been spending lots of time with my girls to help ease the transition. Not to mention the "fun" it has been to just have the internet installed. We are all doing well and getting to know our new town. We even had a wonderful dinner with some family members whom we had never met. Fabulous!

While I have been unpacking and shopping around for my daughter's "strawberry" themed 3rd birthday party, I found these:



You can find these polka dot candles inside my new favorite party shop, Bake it Pretty. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, the owner Amanda is super sweet (yes, just like her cupcakes).

  3. Congrats and welcome to AL. I've only been following your site for about a week or two but have found everything so addicting. I'm in 'Bama as well (I was a northern, i.e., yankee, trader, etc.). If you ever need anything holler, I'm sure I'm just down the road! BTW, first thing you must do here is pick a football team: Alabama or Auburn. Your new Southern friends will live and die by this information, however, I still don't get it.

  6. My oldest starts kindergarten the 11th...oh, isn't this such a big deal? I'm having a harder time than she is! One of my dearest friends actually moved to Birmingham yesterday with her twin 3 year olds....she is excited about moving there! Enjoy your new town!

  8. Good luck with the rest of unpacking. My inlaws just found a box in their basement that was from their first move---over 25 years ago---that had never been unpacked. Have fun!
